Flexible respite care for adults with disabilities and their families will begin March 1, 2010. This overnight Christian-based, vacation-style respite happens in our homey camp setting. Our guests enjoy life in community with lots of opportunities for rest, recreation and building new friendships. Based on the respite camp model, this service offers community and camp based activities depending on the dates and options selected.
Successful candidates for respite care are:
- Adults 18 years and older with physical or cognitive challenges who do not need skilled nursing care
- Limited behavioral problems and no problems that may endanger him/her or others
- Minimal medical needs and medically stable
- Diabetic care will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis
- Complete physical exam with doctor's orders for all treatments/prescriptions must be supplied
- TB skin test--if TB is positive, a chest X-ray and doctor's release is required
- All medications must be in the original pharmacy labeled containers--NO self-packaged envelopes or medication strips.
To ensure quality care, we require that all guests begin the application process at least one month before they plan to come. A pre-enrollment process will become available January 1, 2010 for those who would like to participate. We will be offering online opportunities to register and the pre-enrollment option that will enable us to offer emergency respite care.
