Dan Prybell arrived at Inspiration Ministries from Chicago, Ill., in October 2006.
“I made a lot of new friends since I’ve been here. I enjoy the camaraderie with people. Living with just you and your mother and then living with 60 people, that is a difference. We can do a lot more outings and see movies.”
As someone who likes to stay active, he’s found lots to do here. “It worked out fine” he says. "Friendships came up. I like to go to a baseball game whenever it’s possible; and [I like] sports in general. I like a good dinner or lunch.”
He enjoys a week of summer camp, and bowling for Special Olympics at the local bowling alley. Dan also is an avid Chicago Bears fan, and his apartment reflects an array of Bears memorabilia.
Dan checked other facilities before trying Inspiration Ministries. In part, he chose Inspiration Ministries because faith is an important part of Dan’s life, and here he can express his faith in formal and informal ways.
He is part of a regular men’s Bible study, and you are likely to hear praise music as you enter his room. Though he cannot use his hands to do even basic tasks, he joyfully speaks of the blessings of God. His remarkable attitude encourages his caregivers and friends alike.
Dan’s message to others: “A disabled person doesn’t mean we’re not kind.”
