2008 Auction Program

A Cutting-edge Approach to Helping People with Disabilities.

In general, ministries are blessed to get a 4:1 return on investment with many fundraising strategies. Inspiration Ministries’ auction program gets an 8:1 return. It’s a win-win-win situation - for the donor, the buyer, and for Inspiration Ministries.

Over the last 10 years, Inspiration Ministries has become known for its Auction Program because of the broad selection of items it sells and because most items sell for about half of fair market value.

Today the program raises tens of thousands of dollars annually and utilizes in-kind donations like vehicles, cars, recreational vehicles, products, services, and most anything else to provide needy people with disabilities with financial assistance and services.

The ministry uses 4 auction strategies to raise funds to help people with disabilities:

May 24
Wheels and Keels Auction

This event started more than 10 years ago after the realization that this popular vacation community had an overflow of used boats vacationers and locals weren’t using anymore for one reason or another. A vehicle donation program was started which brought in boats, other watercraft, cars, RV’s and many other types of vehicles. Between 75-100 boats and cars are donated and sold at the Wheels and Keels Auction. Inventory will be posted the beginning of May.

August 16
Field of Dreams Auction

Within a couple of years after the Wheels and Keels auction started, the vehicle donation program grew and expanded to include other items like lawn equipment, building materials, household goods like furniture, art, and other valuables. The Field of Dreams auction started as a result of the outpouring of other-than-vehicle donations. The event is hosted on Inspiration Ministries’ ball field where buyers find bargains.

November 7
Sharing the Harvest Dinner-Auction

The Sharing the Harvest dinner-auction is an upscale event that provides attendees with a delicious meal, a great program, and wonderful live and silent auction opportunities. With November being harvest time in Wisconsin, the sharing the harvest concept ties in the idea of attendees sharing their abundance – at whatever level that is – with people who are disabled.

All 4 auction strategies are intentionally placed at specific times throughout the year.

The May event captures the attention of boat buyers as the boating season starts. Donors doing spring cleaning also often utilize the vehicle donation program to get rid of the boat or car that has been sitting in their driveway or yard all winter.

The August event is popular because many boat owners donate their boats to Inspiration Ministries during the summer months when they buy a newer one.

The November Sharing the Harvest event is a fun live/silent auction with gift certificates, art, resort accommodations, sports tickets, trips, memorabilia, and other unique items. The event is hosted at Geneva National, a local golf club. The focus is on raising funds for the Bread of Life Fund which meets the financial needs of our most needy residents.

eBay auctions are conducted throughout the year to sell items that cannot be sold at one of the other auctions.
