Does my boat have to be running?

Not necessarily. Each situation is given individual attention. If the donation is of value but doesn’t run, it is still welcome. Call 1-262-275-6131 or email for more information.

What kind of condition does my boat need to be in?

We can usually sell every boat donated to us. However, we like to take boats that have trailers, hulls that are in good shape, and aren’t “junkers” that people are looking to unload. Disposing of boats that don’t sell costs us valuable resources that are needed to help people with disabilities.

Can you pick up my boat?

Most certainly! We want to make the donation process as quick and painless as possible. However, as auction time nears, we will only be able to accommodate so many pick up requests. The earlier you let us know, the better. Generally speaking, pick ups are most easily accommodated if they are within 30 miles of Walworth, Wis., where we are headquartered.

Does my boat have to be on a trailer?

Not always. If the boat has enough value to be sold without a trailer and can be transported to our campus, it will more than likely be welcome. Other situations will be looked at individually.

Can I get a tax write off for my boat?

Yes, if you itemize your deductions. You are eligible for a tax deduction equal to the price that Inspiration Ministries sells your donation if it is $500 or more. If it is worth less than that, you simply deduct the fair market value.

How do I get a receipt so I can take a tax deduction?

When we have the title, or a letter stating relinquishment of ownership to Inspiration Ministries, we will issue a receipt letter acknowledging the donation. A second letter, mailed after the item is sold, provides information on the sale price along with directions to help get the most tax write-off for your donation.

What condition does my car need to be in?

Unless the vehicle has collector value, usually it must be able to be driven to our property when you donate it and from our grounds when an auction buyer purchases it. Poor body condition and other minor details are usually not a problem.

What if I lost the title?

Contact the DMV and apply for a new title. Since Inspiration Ministries is a licensed dealer in the state of Wisconsin, we cannot accept vehicles without a title. The process is quick and simple and can be completed at any DMV location.

Can you pick up my car if I decide to donate it?

Yes. We would be more than happy to come pick it up. Please keep in mind that as auction time nears, we will become increasingly busy and we may not be able to honor all requests.
