Charitable Giving is a Mandate, Privilege, and a Ministry

1. The Bible commands giving – Fundraising is a part of that process.
Everything we have is God’s, and we are merely stewards of what He has given us (I Corinthians 4:7). God entrusts possessions to Christians and holds them accountable for their use, as a tool to grow God’s kingdom, as a test of the believer’s faithfulness to God, and as a trademark that their lives reflect Christ’s values (Luke 16:1-9).

We as fundraisers have the opportunity to walk people through this reality and help them see God’s call on them.

God is pleased when he sees His people reaching out to help the widow, the orphan, and the downtrodden. He gave His life for them. He went above and beyond and gave His life sacrificially (I John 3:16). By giving sacrificially we follow in Jesus footsteps and express our gratefulness for His sacrifice.

The Bible says, "Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also" (Matthew 6:21). God knows that we can so easily be led astray by money. Once we accept the supremacy of Christ, our finances and everything else will follow. We seek to involve donor’s hearts first; then their wallets - their treasure - will follow. It’s a natural progression.

2. Giving benefits the donor in a very real way.

Giving helps God’s people receive blessings. The Bible says God blesses us when we give generously (2 Corinthians 9:6, Proverbs 19:17).

Giving is a joy because donors invest in opportunities that personally connect with them.
It gives the donor, the personal satisfaction of helping the needy that the Lord talked so much about.

3. Giving is a ministry to the under-resourced
