Woven into Our History

Judy's Enduring Legacy

For more than 50 years, Judy Gager has called Inspiration Ministries home. Her story began when IM was still known as Christian League for the Handicapped, and her future husband, Gene Gager, traveled from Pennsylvania to Walworth to see the ministry for himself. Gene worked on the grounds for three years while Judy remained in Pennsylvania, and when the new apartments were built, they were ready to begin their life together. They married and moved into their new home at Christian League.

Gene and Judy shared 12 joyful years of marriage. Together, they built friendships, enjoyed adventures, and became a beloved part of the community. After Gene’s passing, Judy continued forward with deep faith, strength, and resilience, trusting God to carry her through both grief and physical challenges. During that season, she got a bunny named Bud, who became a cherished companion for many years and a gentle reminder that she was never truly alone.

Over the years, Judy has given back to IM in many meaningful ways. She volunteered at the resale shop, helped with the residents’ monthly newsletter, and became one of IM’s faithful historians. Through her careful collection of bulletins, memories, and stories, Judy has helped preserve the history of this ministry for generations to come.

Today, Judy continues to share that history with newer residents, helping them understand how God has worked through IM and the many lives that have been touched along the way. Judy is truly one of a kind. Her determination, gentle spirit, faithful service, and love for others have blessed countless people. Her story is woven into the story of Inspiration Ministries, and her life continues to point others toward the goodness and glory of God.
